How to Install Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) on Debian 6?

Here are Minimum Requirements:

512 Mb Ram

At least 1 – 2 GB Free Space

Debian 6 x64 or x86

Here are easy steps how install RDP we will install Gnome as our Desktop.

If we doing it from fresh OS I recommend to update it by the follow commands

apt-get update && apt-get upgrade

Note* We recommend install RDP via screen as it may take time to install it so you can always come back later if you Are to busy at the moment

So now we install our Desktop by the following command it will download around 557 MB

apt-get install gnome-desktop-environment gdm x-window-system-core desktop-base

After our Desktop is Installed we start it with the following command.

/etc/init.d/gdm start

Now we install Xrdp to our VPS

sudo apt-get install xrdp

Now we should be able to connect by RDP client to our VPS.
